The Story of Davide and His Nonna

Our head chef, Davide Cretoni, was born and raised in Rome, with family roots in Caserta, near Naples. His love of cooking began as a child in his nonna’s kitchen. She taught him how to shape cavatelli by hand and, more importantly, how to cook by instinct rather than following recipes to the letter. This family tradition continues to shape his approach to flavour, craftsmanship and quality ingredients.

Davide gained culinary experience in Italy, the United Kingdom and Switzerland. At CERVO Mountain Resort in Zermatt, he served as Executive Chef, having previously headed its Italian restaurant, Madre Nostra. Today, he brings his experience and deep personal connection to Italian cooking to LouLou Osteria.

From Our Kitchen

Our menu brings together Italian classics and Davide’s own culinary style, from vitello tonnato and freshly made pasta to seasonal risotto creations and slow-braised beef cheek with creamy polenta. To finish, there are traditional Italian desserts such as cannolo and tiramisù.

We place great importance on the provenance and quality of our ingredients. Depending on the dish, our meat is sourced from Switzerland or Italy.

At LouLou Osteria, weekends are made for slowing down and coming together. Our Italian brunch brings friends and families around the table to enjoy freshly prepared egg dishes, homemade pasta, seasonal specialities, fine pastries and Italian desserts. Whether you start with an espresso, settle in for a leisurely brunch or stay for another glass of wine, it’s all about good food, good company and taking your time. A little taste of Italy, right here in Zurich.
